John R. Nofsinger, PhD, is the William H. Seward Endowed Chair in Finance at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He has also been a presenter at more than 50 associations, conferences, and investor gatherings. One such event was the 2013 International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) conference in Phoenix, Arizona, where John R. Nofsinger, PhD, presented “Rational Decision Making: An Overview of Behavioral Finance.”

A nonprofit organization, the IFEBP provides education and networking opportunities to those who work in benefits. It began in 1954 when individuals met and formed the National Conference of Health and Welfare Plan Trustees and Administrators. Over the years, the organization went through a variety of name changes, and its current iteration currently boasts more than 33,000 members. As such, it is the largest professional association for those working in the compensation and employee benefits industry.
The IFEBP also participates in National Employee Benefits Day, which took place on April 3, 2017. The day celebrates administrators, benefits practitioners, trustees, and professional advisors for the role they play in helping their colleagues. Those who visited the IFEBP’s website found resources, free communication material, and helpful tip sheets. They also were invited to attend a free webcast given by Tupper Hillard, who is the vice president of national communications for The Segal Company.
